What is a Community Chaplain?
A Community Chaplain is someone who serves their local neighborhood in times of crisis, trauma, or disasters, providing spiritual first aid and direction. They may also be a community resource connection to basic services and help in their area. Some may specialize in nursing home chaplaincy, first responder chaplaincy, or healthcare chaplaincy as well. Qualifications include:
- mature in their Christian faith
- excellent moral character and dependability
- empathy and compassion for the hurting
- willing to obtain skills and training necessary
- knowledgable in the Word of God
- willing to reach out to those around you
- and of course, someone who knows how to pray!
