For the first time in history, America has been called a post-Christian nation. People are leaving churches due to disillusionment, disappointment, and disgust over the failures of leadership to maintain moral values and behavior.
The world is hurting and they aren’t sure where to turn. Those who have never known Jesus are not seeking out seeker-friendly congregations — they are looking for spiritual answers in all the wrong places.
America has sent money and support for missionaries all over the world to bring the Good News to the lost. Unfortunately, while doing this we’ve “lost the lost” in our own back yard. Our nation is divided along many lines, the deepest of which is belief in absolute truth and the Word of God. If we don’t turn the tide in the atheistic, hatred-filled places in the United States, we will continue down the path of self-destruction.
In order to be a voice crying out in the wilderness of urban cities in America, Kairos Life Institute ordains and appoints select Urban Missionaries to full-time work being a light in the darkness. These missionaries are not lightweights… they have walked through extreme hardships, wrestled with faith-crushing crises, been tried in the fires of affliction, and come through shining like gold. We know their calling and their character.

Jen Weir is an ordained Urban Missionary and Community Chaplain through Kairos Life Institute. She has been called to the Boston area to strategically reach the youth specifically, and the community in general. She and her family sowed into this ground several years ago just prior to Covid, when they opened their home to neighbors, gang members, lost kids, etc. — loving and ministering to them in the power of God. “When Covid first started, we had been having kids over to record their music in the basement, but all of that was shut down. After a couple of weeks, the boys asked if it would be okay to have some kids over and I told them, ‘The Word of God says we are fully protected under the shadow of His wings (Psalm 91) so yes, of course. Anyone is welcome.’ We went on to host open mic nights, and a couple of pool gatherings just to have a place where kids could share their music. The type of people who came were varied. Some came from great families, others had been in jail recently as evidenced by their government issued ankle bracelets. Some were current members of gangs. But all were welcome and felt the love of God in our house. All were told they were designed by God for a purpose… and they began to ask questions about who He is and who they were.”
She and her family returned to Texas for a season, where her husband Mark passed away from cancer. With 5 kids, 4 dogs, and a hole the size of Texas in her heart, Jen fought her way back from the devastating loss, and chose to return to the land she had walked and prayed over. The Lord has given her a heart of love and compassion for the angry and distraught young people of this city. He’s also give her the moxie and faith to reach them right where they are.
Boston is a stronghold for the enemy via intellectualism and elitism, as well as division and strife. And yet Jen would tell you some of the most amazing people on the planet are right there. Jen has an anointing to be BOLD in calling out the darkness and demonstrating the love of the Father.
